What happens if you do not pay?
Failure to make the required payment(s) may result in recovery action culminating in the issue of a summons. If the court is satisfied you are liable, they can issue a Liability Order.
This means the council can:

instruct enforcement agents to take your belongings and sell them to raise money to pay the outstanding business rates and costs
-
bring insolvency proceedings against you
-
obtain security for unpaid business rates; and
-
bring further court proceedings that may lead to your committal to prison
