LGR Engagement Survey - South Kesteven

An engagement survey giving residents of South Kesteven the opportunity to have their say on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is now live.

LGR will see will see larger authorities replace the current system of county, city, district and borough councils.

South Kesteven District Council’s preferred option is to be part of a unitary authority with North Kesteven, South Holland and Rutland.

Greater Lincolnshire is, however, a very large area and as LGR is a complex issue there are diverse views on how best to reorganise.

Options include one large council for Lincolnshire, expanding Lincoln, or dividing the county across two or three councils; with potential for mergers with councils in Humberside and Rutland.

A summary of these can be found at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/LGR

A short, anonymous survey is available at www.givemyview.com/lincolnshirelgr where we would like to hear from people living and working in the area. The survey is open for four weeks.

Paper copies will be/are available from SKDC’s Customer Service Centre at St Catherine’s Way, Grantham, Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham, Stamford Arts Centre, Bourne Corn Exchange and Deepings Community Centre.

We’re asking what residents value most about their area and community connectivity, how important it is that a council is ‘local’ to an area, the most important aspects of council functions, and what priorities future councils should have.

Responses will help to inform SKDC’s proposals to the Government for how LGR might all fit together for the area from 2028.

If you have already completed other surveys relating to LGR proposals please don’t let that stop you from sharing your thoughts here.
