South Kesteven comprises four main market towns, Grantham, Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping. In addition there are over 100 villages and hamlets spread throughout. Now considered one of the best district's to live in, according to a 2013 Halifax Quality of Life Survey, it is an ideal location for new business development or business location.
The council is one of the largest employers in our area and its staff work side-by-side with 56 democratically-elected councillors. Political leadership is provided by the councillors who are elected by residents. Elections are held every four years.
The councillors in turn elect their own leader who appoints an Executive which is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the council. Major items of policy, such as the setting of the council budget, are decided by all councillors at the Full Council meeting which members of the public are welcome to attend.
