Supporting South Kesteven jobseekers into long-term employment

Jobseekers in South Kesteven are being offered a better future through sustainable employment.

Up to 70 unemployed people could benefit from Connect2Grow (C2G).

The initiative is aimed at helping people in Stamford, Bourne, and The Deepings into long-term employment.

C2G is offered by Steadfast Training in partnership with South Kesteven District Council and is backed by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

It supports jobseekers by providing tailored training, mentoring, and accredited courses in areas such as Teaching Assistant qualifications, business administration, adult social care and retail.

SKDC Leader Cllr Ashley Baxter said: “This programme will enable our residents to learn new skills and to find jobs that will provide a regular income for them and their families.

“Everyone deserves the chance of meaningful employment and I am delighted SKDC has been able to offer tangible support through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.”

C2G offers both face-to-face and remote support, including one-to-one mentoring, skills workshops, and guaranteed interviews with local employers.

It also focuses on overcoming health-related challenges through services such as personal well-being coaching, a buddy system and access to self-employment advice.

Steadfast’s Commercial Director, Michael Schneider said the scheme had already helped 58 local residents learn skills that were relevant to the labour market and which had helped almost half of them into work.

Others confirmed an increased knowledge of where to look for jobs and more confidence in interviews.

“Over the next six months, Steadfast will support an additional 70 residents, providing industry-relevant training, matching individuals’ skills and experience to live vacancies and offering mentoring support to those who need that extra bit of help,” said Mr Schneider.
