School children joined regular litter-pickers to learn about keeping their neighbourhood clean as part of a council-run Community Spring Clean Up.
Residents of Railway Terrace, New Street, Manners Street, Grey Friars and The Grange, along with streets known as the University Square, all had the chance to quiz South Kesteven District Council Neighbourhoods and Street Scene staff during the three-day event.
The Community Spring Clean Up began several weeks ago with additional support to remove waste from the area, such as bagged bin day waste left out all week, and large bulky waste items like mattresses and sofas.
Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, Cllr Rhys Baker said: "This event was to help raise awareness of how people can dispose of waste safely and in line with legislation.
"Officers have been out and about this week offering advice and answering any questions from anyone who may need extra support.
"We were particularly proud to welcome children from Dudley House School, who learned about both the harm and inconvenience of dropped litter or dumped waste."
Residents were handed information sheets with details of how, where and when to leave wheelie bins – or refuse sacks for those without space – out for collection, to keep the street scene tidy and free from obstacles.
There was also advice on leaving waste in the street, which could amount to fly-tipping. Everyone who produces waste has a legal duty of care to ensure it is disposed of properly. This includes when people employ someone to take waste away for them, who should always be asked for a valid waste carrier licence. It's also worth taking their name, address and vehicle details because failure to do so could result in a householder being prosecuted if the waste ends up being fly-tipped.

SKDC officers also shared information on how to deal with landlord/tenant issues - and what to do in an emergency.
