South Kesteven District Council is asking residents for their opinions to help shape a revised policy governing street trading.
The council consultation opens today (8 October) and closes on 22 October.
The policy, when finalised, will set out what is required when applying for a street trading licence.
SKDC’s consultation is focused on changes being considered by the Council, including a one-off event consent, timeframes and definitions of specific terms. It also asks for feedback on some of the licensing changes introduced when the policy was last reviewed in 2022.
Once approved, the policy will help everyone understand how licences are issued and ensure the council’s decision-making process is consistent and transparent.
Stakeholders including charities, licence holders and local businesses will also be asked for their views. Cabinet member for Corporate Governance and Licensing, Cllr Philip Knowles said: "We want to hear from anyone interested in how the Council issues licences for street trading.
“Changes we are considering include introducing an option of a one-off event consent. The consent to trade would be held by the event organiser and would cover all street traders attending that event.
“We would also like your views on the decision we took in 2022 to extend the scope of the street trader policy to include mobile traders (someone who moves from location to location), and if you think this has been a success, or not.
“This is your chance to shape how licences for street trading are issued in South Kesteven. Please spare a few moments to tell us what you think.
“By involving you in this process, we will ensure that any changes we make will work for everyone”.
