The sound of guitars, accordions, tambourines – and voices – will be heard across Wyndham Park in Grantham this summer.
The free celebration Busking Festival event will take over the park on Saturday 9th August.
Visitors will be able to wander through to enjoy music and watch performances from a range of styles and instruments, all buzzing with energy as the talent shines through.
We’re looking for even more musicians to take part! Please don’t be put off by the paperwork, we can help performers complete that.
Busking spots must be booked in advance through South Kesteven District Council’s Parks and Events Community Engagement Officer Alison Lewis by email at alison.lewis@southkesteven.gov.uk for an application form.
Cllr Paul Stokes, South Kesteven District Council's Cabinet Member for Arts and Culture, who is also Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “We’re offering a fantastic opportunity for talent young and old to shine with a jam-packed day of free musical experiences designed to inspire the next generation of musicians.
“People can look forward to a day full of live music and entertainment – created by the community for the community – to share and appreciate a unique blend of musical talent and street entertainer performances.
"The event is free to attend, so please visit Grantham and make a day of it.”
The hope is that the gathering will become a regular part of the town’s cultural calendar.
This event is the result of public demand and is something requested in regular surveys of what people would like to see in Wyndham Park.
Wyndham Park Café will also be open on the day and other features, such as the family Splash Pool, are also expected to be open. Limited parking is available on-site, although the park is just a short walk from Grantham town centre.
There are also tennis courts, an urban gym, picnic tables, a safe off-lead dog exercise area and grassland set aside for a peaceful orchard setting.
Busking spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so performers should respond early.
Time slots and locations are yet to be confirmed but all will all be within the main perimeters of the park.
