Extra patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour in parks

Additional patrols will be taking place throughout Love Parks Week 2023 to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Last month, all three of South Kesteven District Council's public parks in Grantham were awarded coveted Green Flag status. Wyndham Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and Dysart Park all retained their accolades following a thorough judging process by Green Flag organisers Keep Britain Tidy.

Cllr Paul Stokes, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: "We have lots of fantastic green spaces across South Kesteven for residents and visitors to enjoy, but it is vital that everyone can feel safe and comfortable when visiting."

The Council's Public Protection Team will be on patrol during the evenings of Tuesday 1st August and Thursday 3rd August at parks and green spaces in the District.

They will respond to reports of ASB and environmental issues such as vandalism and damage to play areas, dog fouling and littering.

The team will also be on hand to answer residents' questions or concerns about public safety.

Cllr Rhea Rayside, Cabinet Member for People and Communities, said: "The positive impact of parks and green spaces for local communities should not be underestimated so it is vital people feel able to use and explore their parks safely.

"The additional patrols will serve as a reminder that ASB across South Kesteven will not be tolerated and highlight the work we undertake on a daily basis to support our communities."
