Single Person Discount Review – Council Tax

South Kesteven District Council are  conducting a review of council Tax accounts where a single occupancy discount of 25% has been applied. The review is being carried out in partnership with Datatank Ltd.

What should you do now?

If you have received a review letter you will need to reply following the instructions contained within the letter.  You may also confirm your current details by clicking on the Single Person’s Discount Review link below. To access your form, you will need to enter your unique PIN number which can be found on the letter you have been sent.

Please do not return this form to the council office – this will create a delay and could result in a penalty being added to your account

 

If you do not respond

If you receive a review letter and do not respond, the discount will be removed from your account so please ensure you respond as soon as you receive your letter.

After you have completed the initial review, you may receive a further text message requesting further information. It is important that you also respond to this. Failure to respond may result in your discount being removed and a penalty of £70 applied to your account.

In accordance with Schedule 3 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 a £70 penalty will be charged where the form is not returned as part of this review and as a result does not notify the council without reasonable excuse that the discount should not apply or no longer applies.

Where a person fails to supply certain information when requested by a billing authority, or knowingly supplies inaccurate information in purported compliance with such a request, the authority may impose a penalty of £70 on them

Further correspondence

After you have completed the initial review, you may receive a further text message requesting further information. It is important that you also respond to this. Failure to respond may result in your discount being removed and a penalty applied.
