You can pay your council tax in different ways:
Pay online Pay by Direct Debit Find your nearest Post OfficeBy phone | Automated payment service 0330 088 6753. Calls cost 2p per minute plus your phone company's access charge. |
By post | Council Tax Please write your council tax account number on the reverse of the cheque. |
By cash at Allpay outlets | If you would like to pay by cash at one of many Allpay outlets (including Post Offices, shops and petrol stations) then please contact us and we will order you a payment card. |
Changes and corrections to your bill
Please tell us if:
- we've sent the bill to the wrong person
- you've moved house
- we've calculated your bill wrongly
- we've calculated your council tax support wrongly
- you should receive: a discount, an exemption, a disabled band reduction or council tax support
- you should no longer receive: a discount, an exemption, a disabled band reduction or council tax support
Payments not accepted
Promissory notes
Valid forms of payment for council tax are stated on the reverse of bills issued and in the list above on this web page. Promissory notes will not be accepted and recovery action will continue if balances remain outstanding.
Using an archaic law does not mean that council tax payment is not due or an individual is not liable to pay. There are many misleading articles and templates on the internet regarding the legality of council tax. Anyone using these for advice should seek proper legal advice before using them as a defence against council tax liability.
