Two men have each been fined £800 after illegally dumping two sofas in a car park.
The fly-tipping took place at a housing association property, with information about the vehicle involved passed to South Kesteven District Council.
The vehicle details provided enabled the council to identify both men responsible for the offence, which took place at at Beck Gardens, Grantham.
Each fly-tipper was issued with an £800 Fixed Penalty Notice, both reduced to £400 due to early payment.
Cllr Rhys Baker, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “Fly-tipping has a detrimental impact on our communities and is an offence we take very seriously.
“In this case, information about the vehicle involved proved invaluable in helping our officers identify those responsible and take enforcement action.
“Each individual was issued with an £800 Fixed Penalty Notice – a reminder that there can be significant consequences for those who choose to dump their waste illegally."
Residents who witness fly-tipping are encouraged to report it to SKDC, providing as much information as possible. Vehicle registration numbers, photographs and details about the location and time of an incident can all help officers with their investigations.
