Information about your rent and how to pay

You can pay your rent by direct debit monthly or weekly.

Pay by direct debit

We offer two payment dates for monthly direct debit the 1stand the 15th of the month. We also offer a weekly direct debit, the payment day for this is a Friday.

Pay by phone

Please call 0330 088 6753 to use our automated payment line. Calls cost 2p per minute plus your phone company's access charge.

Further information about your rent

Your weekly rent payments are due every Monday and must be paid in advance for the week ahead. If you prefer, you can contact us to discuss alternatives such as fortnightly or monthly payments.

For 2024/25 Financial Year there are 53 Mondays between 1 April 2024 up to including 31 March 2025. This means this year is a 53 week year in terms of Rent due.

The rent free weeks for the Financial Year 2024/2025 are:

  • Week commencing 01 April 2024
  • Week commencing 08 April 2024
  • Week commencing 23 December 2024
  • Week commencing 30 December 2024

We will send quarterly rent account statements only to tenants who have fallen behind with their rent payments (are in arrears). All tenants will receive a rent statement at the end of the financial year. Your statement will show payments made by you, housing benefit payments and other adjustments, and will show the balance of your account. If you have any queries about payments made please contact customer services on 01476 40 60 80.

If you have paid too much rent, you can leave the credit on your account to offset future charges or you can ask for a refund. If you have other debts outstanding with the council we may transfer all or part of the credit to clear these debts.
