Designation of a neighbourhood area
Neighbourhood Planning Regulations require a 'neighbourhood area' to be designated before a neighbourhood plan can be progressed.
Applications to designate a neighbourhood area should be made to:
South Kesteven District Council
St Peter's Hill
Applications must include:
- a map identifying the area to be designated
- a statement explaining why this area is considered appropriate for designation
Depending on the extent of the proposed Neighbourhood Plan area, the application may need to undergo consultation. Planning Policy will advise you if this is the case.
Designation of a neighbourhood forum
In areas where there is no parish or town council, organisations can submit an application to be the neighbourhood forum for that area.
An application must also be made to designate the neighbourhood area (see above) but consideration of both applications can run in parallel.
Once received, we will publicise the application on our website and there will be a six week consultation period to enable any comments on the proposal to be made. Following consultation, applications will be considered by the council and a decision issued.
