The scheme works to:
- inform the public about hygiene standards in the premises at the time of the most recent inspection
- drive up standards and adoption of best practice across the industry
- reduce the risk of incidents of infection and transmission of infectious disease from tattooing procedures
Participation in the scheme is by application and studio owners and tattooists need to follow the rules of the scheme. Participating premises will be issued a rating following an inspection which can be displayed on the premises in a window sticker.
Premises will be rated into four categories: (see rating criteria)
1 - Needs Improvement
2 - Satisfactory
3 - Good
4 - Very Good
