Environmental Health Services shares responsibility for enforcing workplace health and safety laws with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

We are responsible for investigating hazards or dangerous practices in certain work premises, including:

  • shops
  • warehouses
  • offices
  • hotels
  • catering
  • sports and leisure facilities
  • consumer services (laundrettes, hairdressers, tyre and exhaust fitters etc.)
  • residential care homes
  • churches

All workplaces are under a legal obligation to report certain categories of accidents and fatalities that occur in the workplace under the Reporting of Injuries, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1995.

Report an accident or incident

If you have witnessed something dangerous where you work at or a business premises you have visited and have been unable to resolve the situation with the company involved you can submit an enquiry and ask us to investigate. We will contact you as soon as possible (within three working days maximum) and keep you informed of our investigation.
