Road closures for Town Transformation

Several roads in Grantham town centre will be closed to traffic for an eye-catching Transformation of the Town as the Gravity Fields festival finale on Friday September 28.

Starting at 6pm, the following roads will be closed until 11pm: St Peters Hill, High Street, Guildhall Street, Vine Street, Finkin Street, Swinegate, Elmer Street, Avenue Road (part of), Westgate, Market Place, Conduit Street, Bluegate and Church Street.

Six science-themed carnival processions, each with a distinctive theme, will follow circular routes around the town centre, starting at 7pm. Internationally famous performers such as Cirque Bijou will also be staging static displays around the town centre area.

The evening will culminate in all six processions coming together to form a main procession down the High Street to form the colours of the rainbow, finishing outside the Guildhall.

Residents on affected streets are being leafleted to inform them, determine any special needs and advise them of alternative car park sites.

There will also be a number of edge-of-town-centre car parks available to members of the public attending the event.

Gravity Fields is supported by SKDC and has received Arts Council England funding
