Getting South Kesteven healthy
Residents embrace healthy living.
SKDC's health communities team together with the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership , School Sports Partnership, Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust and others have been working hard to improve residents levels of physical activity and their health over the last two years.
And the Active People Survey, conducted by Sport England , has shown just how much of a positive impact this has made to those living in the district.
The number of people within SK who have become more active* has increased by over 3,500 (2.7%) over the last two years against a target of 1%.
Community leisure officer Dale Kitchen said: "It's brilliant to see such a great outcome from the hard work and activities that we have put together over the last two years. It's also great to receive feedback from a national organisation confirming the impact we have on the lives and health of local residents."
Projects and programmes including healthy walks, exercise referral, new age kurling, vitality (seated exercise sessions), rounders, ceilidh dancing and the SKDC Leisure Directory have all contributed to encouraging and engaging local residents to become more physically active.
