Stamford North Electoral Division of Lincolnshire County Council
A County Councillor vacancy has arisen for the Stamford North Electoral Division of Lincolnshire County Council following the death of Councillor John Russell Hicks. An election to fill the vacancy is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 11 December 2014.

The Notice of Election was published on 6 November and nomination papers could be submitted by candidates by 4pm on Friday, 14 November 2014.
The poll will take place on Thursday, 11 December 2014 between the hours of 7am and 10pm. The polling stations will be the:
- Stamford Free Church, Kesteven Road, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 1SU
- Communal Room, Edmonds Close, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 1XE
- Children`s Centre, Bluecoat Primary School, Green Lane, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 1HE

If any elector is unable to vote at their polling station on polling day they may apply for a Postal Vote up to 5pm on Wednesday, 26 November 2014 or a Proxy Vote up to 5pm on Wednesday, 3 December 2014.
Anyone who is not currently registered as an elector or who has moved to the electoral division recently can apply to be registered by registering online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by completing and submitting registration form up to Tuesday, 25 November 2014.

The next elections for district council seats will take place in May 2015.
Parish/Town Council Elections
Elections for the parishes in the district of South Kesteven will take place in May 2015.
By-elections can occur in any district ward or parish at any time if a serving councillor resigns, dies or is disqualified, creating a casual vacancy. If a casual vacancy arises, the relevant council must publish a Notice of Vacancy.
If the Councillors term of office was due to end in less than six months, an election cannot be held until the scheduled elections in May.
If the remainder of the Councillor's term of office was longer than six months, a certain number of electors can submit a written request to the Returning Officer, as below:
- District council vacancy - signatures of 2 electors registered within the district
- Parish or town council vacancy - signatures of 10 electors registered within the parish, to be received before the deadline stated in the Notice of Vacancy
If a request is received for an election to be held, the "Notice of Election" will be published on this webpage. The Notice will show the deadlines for receipt of:
- Nomination papers by candidates;
- Written applications to vote by post;
- Written applications to vote by proxy.

Following the expiry of the Notice of Election and the deadline for withdrawals, a poll will only be held if there are more candidates than seats available.
