An early priority for the Growth Point is the regeneration of Station Approach, a four hectare site adjacent to the rail station.
The project seeks to create a new distinctive character area by redeveloping current brownfield land to the west and south west of Grantham railway station. New quality office space will feature alongside ancillary retail, a hotel, a Business Innovation Centre and some residential development. The focus on quality office space for small and medium enterprises is to address the identified current lack of stock and also to encourage economic development and employment opportunities ahead of the town's predicted growth.
A new distinctive arrival point to Grantham will also be created along with a new attractive pedestrian boulevard which will clearly connect the train station to the town centre.
A Development Brief has been completed for the site and was adopted by South Kesteven District Council as Supplementary Planning Guidance in October 2010. Development principles aim to both encourage visitors to the town centre and also to create a new business hub by providing suitable office accommodation and start up units where businesses can be created, grow and flourish.
