Southern Quadrant
A sustainable urban extension site to the south of the town, offering the potential for new mixed use residential and employment development, with integrated community and educational facilities.
An area of land comprising approximately 195 hectares to the south of Grantham. The site has been designated as a Sustainable Urban Extension site in the Core Strategy adopted by SKDC in 2010 and has the capacity to provide 4,000 new homes together with employment, education, neighbourhood retail and community infrastructure.
A new relief road will be provided as part of the development which will improve east - west linkages across Grantham and relieve traffic congestion in the town centre.
Planning consent has been granted for a major new employment area adjacent to the A1 which will be developed as an early part of the scheme. This scheme will comprise a major distribution hub totalling 120,000 sq m and will support the delivery of an improved strategic access to the A1. Following the grant of planning consent, negotiations are underway with the Highways Agency regarding various technical matters.
The master planning of this site is underway and the draft master plan Supplementary Planning Document is expected to be out for consultation in mid 2012 with final adoption anticipated in late 2012.
