Car Parks

South Kesteven District Council own/lease some off-street car parks in Grantham and Stamford which are Pay and Display and in Bourne and Market Deeping which are free.

South Kesteven District Council is responsible for the provision, maintenance and management of district council owned (or leased) off-street car parks in the district. Lincolnshire County Council is responsible for on-street parking and for highways issues affecting parking in Lincolnshire, for example, road closures and surface repairs. They are also responsible for any parking areas they own. There are several private businesses operating car parks throughout the district; they are responsible for setting and enforcing their own charges.

Charges

Council car parks in Grantham and Stamford operate on a 'pay and display' arrangement.

The following fees are charged for parking at South Kesteven District Council operated car parks in Grantham and Stamford between 8am - 6pm Monday - Saturday. Sundays and Bank Holidays are free of charge.

Charges and other information are provided at the pay and display machines found on the car parks.

To report a Pay and Display machine out of order

Please contact car park attendants for Grantham car parks on 07766 518136 or 07712 199087 and Stamford car parks on 07712 199090 or 07920 264416. Please state the name of the car park and machine number, as on the pay and display information board. To assist the attendant please describe the ticket machine fault, e.g. the digital display is blank, jammed coins etc.

Season Tickets

Season Tickets are available for use at our long stay car parks in Grantham and Stamford for 3 or 6 month periods. These offer a significant discount on the daily parking charge.

If you wish to purchase a season ticket, please obtain an application form from  the Customer Service Centres in Grantham or Stamford.  Alternatively  phone  01476 406080 or send an e-mail to carparks@southkesteven.gov.uk

Disabled Badge holders

Currently, parking is free if you are displaying a valid Disabled persons parking badge (Blue Badge). Disabled badge holders may park their vehicles in either designated disabled bays or standard bays ensuring that the disabled badge is clearly displayed. Currently, Blue badge holders displaying their valid parking card, can park for free at all times.

All relevant information with regard to the parking conditions are located on the regulation boards, which can be located adjacent to any ticket machine. Please consult the regulation board before leaving your vehicle.

Car park fines

Parking charges, enforcement and fines

We are responsible for setting and enforcing parking charges only for our car parks.  It is the responsibility of the motorist to ensure the appropriate ticket is paid for and displayed.

Car park attendants patrol car parks regularly to ensure customers have paid the correct fee. They will issue fines (Excess Charge notices) to vehicles parked in contravention of the parking order.

Appealing a Parking Fine

If you believe a parking fine has been issued incorrectly, you may appeal in writing within 7 days of issue. A telephone call is not accepted as an appeal, you will still be asked to put any information in writing. If you have a valid ticket, please send this in but keep a copy for your records. Send your completed letter or fill in the Excess Charge appeal e-form   and send to:

Please note that a letter of appeal or completion of an appeal form does not guarantee the cancellation of an Excess Charge Notice.
