Bulky Waste - Having a clear out? We can help!
Old sofa? Fridge? Carpet? No problem! SKDC's waste and recycling team can take and dispose of your unwanted bulky items.
Where possible, the items are sent for recycling. A large bulky item is anything that weighs over 25kg or can't fit into your wheelie bin. Once payment has been made, we will collect the item from outside your property within 7-10 working days. We will call you in advance to agree the actual day of collection. You don't have to be in at the time, as long as the item is easily accessible from your property.
For further details, please call 01476 406279 or please email us at customerservices@southkesteven.gov.uk with a daytime number and details of your request, and we will call you back.
Most of the items that we collect as bulk waste will be sent to landfill. If your item is too good to be landfilled you may wish to give it to someone who can make use of it. The British Heart Foundation will collect furniture and appliances that are in useable condition. Alternately you could list them on your local Freecycle group website where you can offer your item to anyone that would like it and they will come and collect it from you. There are groups all over Lincolnshire, just choose the one closest to you. Both of these options cost you nothing but help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
You can, of course, take bulky items yourself to your nearest household waste site in Lincolnshire.
However, if you would like us to remove your item/s for you we can do so. There is a charge for this service.
How much does it cost?
For current fees and charges information, please use the following link:
Fees and Charges - Waste & Recycling
Please note that charges apply to each single item collected (so a three-piece suite, for example, is three bulk waste items. However, a divan base and mattress is a single item).
What we can collect
We collect all types of white goods (such as fridges and washing machines) as well as items of furniture. We will also collect kitchen units and bathroom suites. Charges depend on the number of items involved and if you have an unusual item or a large amount of waste one of our officers will need to visit to assess the cost.
Exceptions
We are not able to collect builder's rubble, bricks, concrete or paving slabs.
We are unable to remove gas bottles and suggest you ring the suppliers - the telephone number is usually printed on the item.

PLEASE NOTE:
There have been cases recently where scrap metal collectors have taken away white goods where customers have paid SKDC to take them away.
All bulky collections from SKDC will be carried out by employees wearing an SKDC high visibility jacket driving an SKDC vehicle. If you are unsure you can ask for identification as all SKDC employees will have this available if asked.
How you can help us
Please make sure your items are out at the front of your property for collection by 7.30am on the day of collection. Keep them close to the kerb but not on the road.
If you are unable to place the items outside, could a family member, friend or neighbour help? If you cannot find anyone please get in touch and we will consider your circumstances. (Please note that if we can help, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer form)
Still unsure?
If you are not sure if the item you want removing qualifies for bulk item collection, please contact us on 01476 406279.
