Environmental Health Services shares responsibility for enforcing workplace health and safety laws with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

We are responsible for investigating hazards or dangerous practices in certain work premises, including:

If you have witnessed something dangerous where you work at or a business premises you have visited and have been unable to resolve the situation with the company involved you can report this to us to investigate. We will contact you as soon as possible (within 3 working days maximum) and keep you informed of our investigation.

Workers' rights and responsibilities

All workers are entitled to work in environments where risks to their health and safety are properly controlled. Under health and safety law, the primary responsibility for this is down to employers.  As a worker, you have a duty to take care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions. Health and safety legislation, therefore, requires employers and workers to co-operate.
