Waste & Recycling Collections

How domestic waste is collected in our area.

We make alternate weekly waste collections, picking up landfill waste one week in your black bin or pink bags, and your recyclable materials in your silver bin or clear bags the next. We will issue, and publish online, a calendar so you know which is which and you can use our postcode search for your collection days. You can download the household and green waste collection calendars in PDF format following the links at the bottom of this page.

Residents can now purchase an extra silver bin or extra clear bags. For current fees and charges information, please use the following link:

Fees and Charges - Waste & Recycling

If you are interested in an extra silver bin, or clear bags, please contact our Customer Services representatives on 01476 406279 or you can order them online here by clicking on "Other Payments" and selecting the relevant service from the drop down list.

Across South Kesteven district you have already helped us to recycle or compost over 50 per cent of the household waste produced in the district - please help us to continue these fantastic results! Our main aim is to reduce the amount of waste that we, as a district, send to landfill. If you have an item that could be reused by someone, from left over paint in tins to items of furniture, you can join the local Freecycle group and give it away to someone therefore stopping it going into landfill. Just click on the link to find more details.

What to put in your silver bin or clear bags

Yes Please:

Please take unwanted good quality clothes/shoes to a charity shop or put them in the specialised recycling containers provided at some supermarkets.

No Thanks:

A downloadable Recycling Guide showing how to deal with some of these items is available at the bottom of this page.

Televisions - can be taken to your local recycling centre. Alternately, we can collect them for a small fee through our bulky collection service.

Batteries - can be taken to any Household Waste Recycling Centre in Lincolnshire or can be put into the collecting bins at larger shops and Supermarkets. All shops that sell a large amount of batteries should also have a collecting box for old ones.

Garden Waste - this can be composted or you can join our green waste collection scheme, click here for more information.

White foam polystyrene - needs to be perfectly clean before it can be recycled, and we cannot guarantee this yet. Residents will be told as soon as this changes!

Window Glass- The machines that sort the waste that we collect can be damaged by sheets of glass. Double glazing is toughened and so needs to be treated separately to normal glass. You can take sheet glass of any type to the Household Waste Recycling Centres where it will be sent for recycling.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs and Fluorescent Tubes - These can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres for recycling.

You should have received an information pack with your bins or bags, giving you information on using them. You can order replacement copies by contacting us by email or telephone using the details on the left of this page.

If your waste/recycling is not collected

Please telephone us within 48 hours of your collection being missed on 01476 406279. We will ask you:

If the bin/bags were put out at the wrong time, position or with the wrong things in them, we will not return before your next appropriate collection date. If it was put out correctly, and we are at fault, we will come back the next Wednesday or Saturday after you notify us. Please make sure you contact us within 48 hours of when your collection was due as if you report your bin as missed after this time we will not be able to return for it until your next scheduled collection.

We will not collect commercial or industrial waste with household collections but can provide advice on its safe collection and disposal.

Help us make the service better - let us know your comments, compliments and complaints by using the contact details on the left of this page or by completing our online refuse enquiry form.
