Private Sector Housing Renewal
This policy sets out how we will support local residents, and work with other agencies to provide a range of assistance for housing renewal.
Our Private Sector Housing Renewal Policy supports the objectives in the district's Housing Strategy to support the creation of the environment to support good housing for all.
Through the policy, the private sector housing team work to improve the condition of private sector housing and regenerate local areas.
The service provides the following:
- Disabled facilities grants
- Empty Homes Funding to assist owners in bringing long term empty properties back into use
- Essential Home Repair Assistance
- Enforcement of standards in the private sector and caravan sites
- Licensing of houses in multiple occupation
We undertook a private sector stock condition survey in 2009 to review and inform our future housing policies and strategies. The survey is a detailed picture of housing conditions in the private sector.
