The Strategy is the product of consultation with a range of stakeholders and draws upon multiple data sources in setting out an ambitious vision for the future of the District within the context of thecorporate priority of creating the environment to support good housing for all.
Supporting that corporate priority are four strategic housing priorities:
Priority 1: High quality new affordable homes available to buy or rent
Priority 2: Improved housing standards across the district and for all tenures
Priority 3: Access to housing and wellbeing services
Priority 4: Promotion of sustainable neighbourhoods and communities
The creation of the environment to support the delivery of good housing for all does not take place in a vacuum: the district council, as the local strategic housing authority, operates within a context of national housing, economic and social welfare policies which are significantly influential.
