Exercise classes support residents with long-term health conditions

South Kesteven District Council is running weekly physical activity sessions at Coronation Hall, Market Deeping, thanks to a Together Fund Grant of £3964.

The Together Fund, distributed by Active Lincolnshire on behalf of Sports England aims to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus on groups whose activity levels have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Active Mind And Body Wellbeing Sessions run every Tuesday between 12pm and 1pm.

They provide participants with an inclusive and gentle approach to physical exercise, tailored to those living with long-term health conditions.

Participants suffering from arthritis, recovering from heart surgery, living with dementia and suffering from other aches and pains are among those who can benefit from the class.

Each session can be fully adapted to suit the needs of the participant with strengthening exercises that can be completed whilst sitting or standing.

At the end of the session, refreshments will be served where participants can also benefit from connecting with new friends in a social environment.

Anyone interested can try their first session for free. All future sessions are just £3.50 per class, which includes the cost of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Book your place online via the LeisureSK app or contact Bourne Leisure Centre on 01778 301099.  Cash payments are not accepted.
