- elections of all 56 District Councillors across 30 district wards
- elections for all Parish and Town Council seats across 65 Parish and Town Councils

Voter ID at polling stations
From May 2023, all voters at a polling station will need to show an accepted forms of photographic identification (photo ID) in order to be able to vote. This has been introduced under the Elections Act 2022. Anyone who does not have an accepted form of ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate to use at the polling station.

Key election dates
- Nomination of Candidates: prospective candidates can submit nomination papers between Monday 20 March and Tuesday 4 April 2023 (10am to 4pm)
- Register to vote: deadline - 11.59pm on Monday 17 April 2023
- Apply to vote by post: deadline - 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023 (this deadline is also for cancellations and amendments of all current postal and proxy votes)
- Apply to vote by proxy: deadline - 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023
- Apply for a Voter Authority Certificate: deadline - 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023
- Polling day: 7am to 10pm on Thursday 4 May 2023
