Stamford Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

A referendum relating to the adoption of the Stamford Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 14 July 2022

The question that will be asked at the Referendum will be:

"Do you want South Kesteven District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Stamford to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

The referendum area includes the Parish of Stamford as identified on the map included in the  pdf icon Information Statement - Stamford Neighbourhood Plan Referendum [462kb]

Hard copies of the Neighbourhood Planning document are also available to view at the Stamford Arts Centre, Stamford Library and Stamford Town Hall.

Information for Voters:

Voting at this referendum will take place on Thursday 14 July 2022. The polling stations will be located at the following locations: 

·         Bluecoat Children`s Centre, Green Lane, Stamford, PE9 1HE

·         Malcolm Sargent Primary School, Empingham Road, Stamford PE9 2SR

·         Stamford Rugby Club, Hambleton Road, Stamford PE9 2RZ

·         Stamford Free Church, Kesteven Road, Stamford PE9 1SU

·         Essex Road Communal Room, Essex Road (Kings Road entrance), Stamford PE9 1LW

·         Edmonds Close Communal Room, Edmonds Close, Stamford PE9 1XE

·         Stamford Arts Centre, 27 St. Mary's Street PE9 2DL

·         Clare Close Communal Room, Clare Close, Stamford PE9 2QA

The polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on 14 July 2022.

Register to Vote

If you are unsure if you are registered to vote, contact our Electoral Services team on 01476 406080 or email elections@southkesteven.gov.uk.

The deadline to register to vote at this referendum was midnight on Tuesday 28 June 2022.

Although it is now too late to register to vote for this referendum, you can register online at http://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote for future elections and referendums.

Postal and Proxy Voting

If you are unable to vote at your polling station on polling day you can choose to apply to vote by post or by proxy (appointing someone else to vote at the polling station for you).

The deadline to applying for a postal vote or to change/cancel an existing postal or proxy appointment was 5pm on Wednesday 29 June 2022.  

The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 6 July 2022.  

Application forms can be downloaded from https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/how-cast-your-vote.   You do not need to wait until you receive your poll card to apply - if you would prefer to vote by post, you can apply at any time.

How to submit a postal or proxy application

Postal and proxy vote applications cannot be completed online and must signed and returned to the Electoral Registration Officer, South Kesteven District Council, Council Offices, St Peter's Hill, Grantham NG31 6PZ and be received by the deadlines above to be effective for this referendum. Signed copies can also be sent by email to elections@southkesteven.gov.uk.

If you can't or don't want to vote at your polling station on polling day, make sure you get your application to us as early as possible.
