SKDC has responded to a user survey that identified extra spaces for visitors as a priority for the award-winning Wyndham Park.
An additional 25 spaces will be created by extending the existing carpark. Work will get under way in the week starting Monday 23 September and will take ten days.
The Cabinet member for Commercial and Operations, Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, said: "While we actively encourage local people to enjoy the environmental and health benefits of walking or cycling to the park, some visitors have to use their cars.
"Providing these extra spaces will make visitor parking easier and will also help reduce on-street parking on nearby streets."
In addition, a new 30-space carpark is to be created at the access to Queen Elizabeth Park from Belton Lane. The work is part of a project to upgrade the whole park and will start on Monday (9 September). It is expected to take two weeks to complete.
"Our parks between them attract well over a million visitors a year and we are continually working to improve the visitor experience in all of them," said Cllr Dr Moseley.
