A Christmas market, fun fair and other yuletide attractions will kick-off the countdown to the big day - and there will be an early chance for youngsters to visit Santa in his grotto at Abbey Gardens.
The festivities will be centred on St Peter's Hill Green from 10am. There will be an ice sculptor, walkabout entertainers, the Dick Whittington panto cast, live music ... and dancing turkeys. There will also be a Christmas craft market at the Guildhall.
At 4.30pm the Christmas lights will be switched on by Father Christmas, assisted by young Ryan Blair, who has Down syndrome and autism.
Prior to this there will be carols from St Wulfram's Church choir, and a blessing of the town Christmas tree. The afternoon will be rounded off by a glittering celebration firework display.
Cllr Nick Robins, South Kesteven District Council's Cabinet Member for Retail and Visitor Economy, said: "The town's traders and SKDC are working together with Grantham Events, who add so much expertise to this event to make it a must-see for locals and visitors alike.
"It's a great opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping and buy their gifts locally.
"There will be 75 lit Christmas trees along Westgate and the Market Place - and with plenty of refreshments and catering at the market, it's everyone's first chance to get into the Christmas spirit!"
Parking in all SKDC car parks is free on Sundays.
Dick Whittington is at the Guildhall Theatre from Saturday 8 December to Saturday 5 January, with details on performances and tickets at guildhallartscentre.com
