More than 800 tickets sold for LotterySK online weekly draw

People have been rushing to buy their LotterySK tickets - with 802 sold in the first two weeks!

LotterySK is a new weekly, online local lottery launched by South Kesteven District Council to raise thousands of pounds for charities and voluntary organisations within the district.

Players have a chance to scoop a £25,000 jackpot and 60 pence for every £1 ticket sold goes to good causes in South Kesteven - more than twice the proportion raised by the National Lottery.

The first draw takes place on Saturday 27 October 2018.

So far, 56 organisations have registered as beneficiaries. Now other good causes in Bourne, the Deepings, Grantham, Stamford and other villages in South Kesteven are being invited to join too.

The three latest good causes to be approved are:

  • Deeping United Football Club
  • Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven
  • 7th Grantham Scout Group

Deputy Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Councillor Kelham Cooke, said: "LotterySK has clearly struck a chord with people as we've already sold 802 tickets and 56 good causes have registered as beneficiaries.

"I think this is a truly fantastic effort by everyone involved and it's great to see that people are recognising the good work of the charities and voluntary groups in our district and showing their support for them.

"There's less than four weeks until the first draw but that's still plenty of time for other charities and good causes to get involved. It's free to join-up and could be another great way to fund the amazing work they do."

There's a one in 50 chance of winning one of the prizes which range from three extra tickets to the £25,000 jackpot.

People can either sign up by direct debit or payment card and buy tickets for one, three, or six months. Winners will be informed via email and will have the money transferred automatically to their chosen bank account.

When a participant chooses one of the registered charities or good causes, the organisation will receive a 50 pence donation, with 10 pence going towards a central 'Community Fund'. If no charity is chosen, all 60 pence goes to the fund.

Lottery management company, Gatherwell, is running the scheme for South Kesteven District Council.
