EU funding workshops before deadline

Rural enterprises across South Kesteven still have time to apply for funding through the EU-funded LEADER programme, which aims to encourage growth in the rural economy, with an emphasis on job creation.

Funders have set a September deadline for expressions of interest for grant applications, with contracts to be in place before March 2019.

The South Kesteven district is divided into two Local Action Group areas; The Wash and Fens for Stamford, Bourne and the south and The Kestevens for the north, excluding Grantham itself.

Two separate information workshops are scheduled, one in Navenby on 21 February and another in Bourne on 13 March

Four grants have so far been awarded in South Kesteven, totalling £129,013.29. To date, all have gone to farmers; one for holiday accommodation, another to a dairy farm for specialist lighting to regulate milk production and two for direct drilling equipment.Others in the pipeline include restoration of buildings into holiday cottages, new training rooms and office space and agricultural plans for cattle heat detectors and machine parts manufacture.
