What is an apprenticeship?

As an apprentice you earn while you learn and receive other benefits as well.

An apprenticeship gives you hands-on experience, a salary and the opportunity to gain qualifications while you work.

To get your career started you usually need a combination of experience and qualifications. An apprenticeship gives you both by combining on the job training with study, meaning you can earn while you learn.

When studying for an apprenticeship you will not have to face tuition fees or debt at the end of your course. Your employer will be paying you to gain a qualification instead. Along with comprehensive training, you will also gain a work-based qualification such as a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
