
The project is a successful partnership between South Kesteven District Council and Historic England. It is working amidst a priority list of buildings of particular historic interest in the town's Market Place, Westgate and High Street.
The total budget is £500,000 over three years, including contributions from private sector landlords
Landlords or tenants of approved premises claim up to 80% of replacement costs up to a maximum grant of £25,000. For repairs the maximum claim is 60%, again up to a maximum of £25,000.
Eligible works are based on;
a) replacement of original features such as windows, doors, shop fronts and signage
b) repair of original features
How to apply
Applicants go through a two stage process. First is an in-principle decision followed by a detailed full application with required planning approval and listed building consent (where appropriate).
The project is managed by a professionally qualified heritage architect who advises applicants through the whole process.
Final decisions are made by a special panel of local businesses and heritage advisers.
