Council leader backs Covid community initiative

A key service that has continued to support the community during Covid-19 has received grant aid from the Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Cllr Kelham Cooke.

Evergreen Care Trust, which provides voluntary and paid-for services to vulnerable adults, has received a Ward Member Grant for £500.

Cllr Cooke said: "This Stamford-based organisation provides important and much needed services to their local community and their own residents. During the Coronavirus pandemic, it has given extra support to meet the needs of local people at a difficult time."

Evergreen founder Louise Marsh said: "The services we provide for people who are vulnerable, isolated and in need have all seen a huge increase in demand since March.

"This donation will support our no-charge volunteer-led services which include advocacy, befriending by phone, and the chaplaincy and listening services.

"Additional support like this is very welcome because we need to continue fundraising to support the extra demand."
