Bourne library resumes book lending services

Bourne Library is expanding its opening hours and offering a book reservation and collection service.

From Wednesday (26 August) South Kesteven District Council's customer services staff will be offering appointment-only collections of reserved books organised by telephone (01522 782010) or via email:

If library users wish to describe the sort of book they want, staff can help by selecting it for them.

Alternatively, customers can make reservations online and drop in to collect books. To access the online catalogue visit

Library opening times will be between 9am and 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, closing for lunch between 12 noon and 1pm.

The library is not currently open for general browsing as part of measures to ensure Government guidelines are adhered to around social distancing.

Cllr Annie Mason, SKDC Cabinet member for Communities said; "We have now devised a way of working that is safe both for our staff and library users and I am delighted that we can resume our lending service at Bourne and welcome customers back.

"Lockdown prevented so much of our normal life, like the simple pleasure of getting a book out of the library, so it's encouraging to see steps back to normality."

A book drop off point will be manned by an SKDC customer service advisor, who will also hand out reserved books,  with an alternative drop off box outside to minimise gatherings as the library continues to replenish and quarantine stocks for re-issue.

Bourne Library partially re-opened on Monday (3 August) for book returns and computer sessions.
