Get on board the Growing Grantham campaign

The people of Grantham are being asked to play a key role in the future development of the town by signing up to a ‘Back the Bid” campaign which could attract millions of pounds of investment money. A draft bid for Growth Point Status will be submitted by South Kesteven District Council to Government on July 31 but the campaign for public support starts now.

Duncan Kerr, Chief Executive, said he wanted the whole community to ‘sign up’ to support the bid on the council’s website and give feedback on a shortlist of three draft logos which would be used on promotional material as the bid is developed through to the deadline of October 1st. He said: “This is a hugely exciting time for the town to grow and develop in a balanced way with new housing, new job opportunities and community development. We now have the opportunity to take Grantham where it can raise its game and reach its full potential.”

Where do we want to be...?
Grantham 2026

Ambitions include up to 3,500 new homes and integrated infrastructure at Poplar Farm off the A52 on Barrowby Road, with a bridge over the railway line connecting to Gonerby Hill, regeneration of the town centre with a “business gateway” near the railway station, re-opening of the canal waterway in Grantham with residential and commercial development in the canal basin area, and a mixed-use urban extension to the south of the town with an all important bypass.

By 2026 the aim is to have expanded Grantham from a population of 38,000 in 15,000 households to 50,000 people in 21,000 households. Another 24 brownfield sites have also been identified to provide another 1,081 homes and development could take place at Greyfriars to revitalize the evening economy and improved pedestrian links to Market Place.

Mr Kerr said: “We obviously want as many people as possible to back the bid by signing up on our website but we would particularly welcome input from residents on a shortlist of three draft logos which were produced by a local designer and will play an important part in the campaign as the bid progresses.

“The logo will feature on documents but will be used on promotional material including items like t-shirts and banners to raise the profile of our ‘Back the Bid’ campaign.”
